What) Let me state a fact that you have probably worked out for yourself by now.  At times the Buckys can become or are the result of the obsessive thoughts that occasionally lodge themselves in my brain. I am fortunate in that these thoughts are strong and compelling but don't usually stay that way for long.

That makes this particular Buckys a bit unusual. I made a point of purchasing, photographing and eating one new snack on nearly every driving day that we had. I tried to pick something appealing that I had never eaten before.  That was easy enough for me to do but I doubt that you will care much about reading through the 26 different snacks that I found. Just click on each of these five links (if they are blue) and the other snack Buckys will have white boxes around them. Alternatively, you could go back to the main page and try to guess which of the images relate to snacks.

Where) Perhaps you would like to read on and find out.

Why) I like to have a daily snack anyway and making it a Buckys added a bit of novelty and excitement to the experience.

The Life and Times of Uncle Ray

Chapter Thirty: Just Peachy (This story was on the back of that bag of chips)

At the age of 10, I lived with my family in the Fisher Housing Projects in Detroit, Michigan. By today’s standards we were considered poor. On my way home from school one day, I took a different route through the neighborhood. I came across a fenced-in yard that had a small peach tree standing in the middle. I could see through the wire fence that there were 15 large peaches hanging from the tree and 2 were even lying on the ground.

I stood there admiring those peaches for some time. I began to think how good one would taste and that the 2 on the ground would rot for sure, if they stayed there. So, to keep the one on the ground from rotting I climbed over the fence, sat down under the tree and enjoyed the sweetest, juiciest peaches I ever had in my life.

We only had fresh fruit once or twice every year and I was very hungry. (It didn’t occur to me to knock on the door and ask permission). After I ate the 2 peaches, I thought if I took some off the tree, they would not mind or even miss them. With another lack of self control, I put several in the fold of my shirt and made my way home.

I first rationalized the situation to benefit my desires by telling myself that the peaches on the ground were going to go to waste. So many people, like I did, think that if they have a good reason for doing wrong, then it’s OK. But it is never right to do wrong and never wrong to do right.

There are some things that I have done in my life that I am not proud of, but I have learned from the consequences not to do them again. Having constantly worked on self control in my life, I have become a stronger person, and I know I am still learning from life experiences.”

Self-Control:  “Rejecting wrong desires, and doing what is right.”

Here are simple things to remember to help you demonstrate Self-Control in every day life.

I Will:
    Not act impulsively.
    Not equate desires with rights.
    Set my own limits.
See my anger as a sign that something is wrong in me.
Walk away from things that aren’t right.

From my family to yours, thank you for choosing Uncle Ray’s. (1)
