What) Fallingwater or Kaufmann Residence is a house designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935 in rural southwestern Pennsylvania. The home was built partly over a waterfall on Bear Run in the Laurel Highlands of the Allegheny Mountains. Hailed by Time shortly after its completion as Wright's "most beautiful job", it is also listed among Smithsonian's Life List of 28 places "to visit before you die." In 1991, members of the American Institute of Architects named the house the "best all-time work of American architecture". (1)

The house is closed for tours from Jan 2 - March 14. A self-guided grounds tour, which allows you to view the outside of the house and the landscape, is available every day, weather permitting.  Before planning to visit for the grounds tour on Wednesdays, please call the day of your visit to be sure the grounds will be open.     Why) Even though I knew that it would be closed on the day we drove by, I wanted to go here anyway in the hopes that I could trespass a bit and see the outside of the house.

We managed to get through the gate and down this road a bit before a security guard suggested we leave.

I did like this picture of Pam at the entrance sign.  In version one she was standing straight up before I suggested this "falling" pose.

Here is a shot of the dining area in the house itself. (3)

This is the classic view of the house that made it famous. (4)

This picture just came up after a Google Advanced Image Search for "Falling Water". (5)
