What) From its humble beginnings as a small dairy store founded in 1969 with seven employees, Stew Leonard's has grown to become not only the World's Largest Dairy Store, but one of the most renowned grocery stores, with annual sales of nearly $300 million and almost 2,000 Team Members. In addition to the headquarters store in Norwalk, Stew Leonard's has stores in Danbury, Newington and Yonkers, N.Y.

Stew Leonard's was dubbed the "Disneyland of Dairy Stores" by the New York Times because of its own milk processing plant, costumed characters, scheduled entertainment, petting zoo and animatronics throughout the stores. (1)

    Where) 100 Westport Avenue   1-203-847-7214

Why) Our next visit was to see Pam's sister.  As we walked around the maze of Norwalks, Pam and I both had fun imagining the start of this conversation with Martha.

“So, what sights have you been seeing?”

“Well, a lot of grocery stores and graveyards.”

How could I not like a grocery store that was endorsed by Ripley's?

I wasn't really taken with the animatronic displays they had throughout the store but I did like ... (2)

... this display of yams because it answered a question I had always wondered about.

Thanks for shopping.  There is one last stop on our grocery store tour.
