What) David Phillips, senior climatologist with Environment Canada, said he was shocked to see that the 55 to 60 centimetres (23˝ inches) of snow that has fallen on Regina this month has already surpassed all of last winter’s total of 52 cm. With a week left in November 2012, Regina has already broken the monthly record of 53.7 cm set in 1941.

The snowfall amounts are also surprising because the bulk occurred over five or six days, Phillips added. “It’s happened in huge, almost Paul Bunyan-like snowfalls,” he said. “Not to scare you, but whenever there has been a November with lots of snow, it seems to me you end up with a snowy winter.” (1)

Why) During the three months that I had been preparing the Buckys for this trip the snow had been piling up in Regina. The pictures that follow are either of the snow itself or of the things that I was using to take my mind off the snow and onto the upcoming trip.

December 1, 2012 10:30 am. That's our yard but you can see Pam's neighbor Ann is out shovelling her snow.

I didn't actually have our departure date circled but I did prefer looking at this picture.

January 7, 2013 4:30 pm. The winter light can be beautiful if you capture it in the right context.

January 21, 2013 9:13 am.  Pam took one last chance to savour the winter before we headed out to CA ...

... Calgary, Alberta.  We were using these magnets to leave each other coded messages about our trip.
