What) “The D.C. area, not Southern California, continues to be a burger-innovation hotbed. At the cutting edge of burger technology is BGR (try the Wellington BGR) which has as its motto, “The one burger you must have before you die."  Gregg Easterbrook (1)

Our burgers are crafted with the finest beef on the planet. We only use grain-fed cattle; all natural, no hormones, fillers or antibiotics, and most importantly they run free in the fields. Our prime beef is dry aged, blended and ground fresh. The beef is only one component, but it's the canvas we use. The buns are made for us locally and delivered fresh every day. The tomatoes are the finest available. Lastly, the burgers are grilled to temperature over an open flame - not fried on a piece of stainless steel. We present to you not a fast food place, not a mass production burger operation, but a "joint" - one that you can make your own and stay awhile. (2)

Where)  3129 Lee Highway at the Lyon Village Shopping Center   Open daily from 11am - 9pm

Why) I have enjoyed reading Gregg Easterbrook's football/astronomy/economics column for 10 years now.  He rarely makes serious recommendations so this seemed like a good time to try one out.

This time I remembered to photograph the restaurant before we went in but once again I forgot to keep my reflection out of the picture.

Here is the menu.  Take a look and see what interests you.
I decided to go with the recommended Wellington and Pam tried out the Veggie Burger.
If you are curious about the 9 pounder then click here and see what it looks like.

Here is our order.  I liked mine so much that I almost asked the waiter to bring me another round.
