What) One of only two exact replicas of Michelangelo’s "David," an 18-foot tall hand-carved marble statue weighing 20,000 pounds, has made its way to Castle Warden, home of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! odditorium, and has been erected in a place of honor in the Castle’s award-winning gardens.  Anyone can stop by the west gardens to see David for free. It took the world famous Sollazzini and Sons Studio of Florence, Italy nearly three years (1960-1962) to carve the stunning statue for the 1963 New York World’s Fair.

The museum itself includes 800 unique exhibits including real shrunken human heads, rosaries made of human bone and a drum kit featuring two human skulls covered with skin. (1)

Where) 19 San Marco Avenue   Open daily from 9am – 7pm   Adults $14.99

Why) After the disappointment of last year's Ripley's in Newport, Oregon, I have not been able to convince Pam to give them another chance.  Fortunately, there is enough interesting stuff to see outside of most Ripley's that Pam does not mind stopping by for a bit.

The museum is housed in a former castle. (2)

This is the best picture I was able to take of David.

I like to think that my good picture would look like this. (3)

This gives you a better sense of the size of the statue.
