What) The American Kennel Club Dog Museum houses a fantastic collection of high quality, mostly traditional, paintings and sculptures of dogs as well as memorabilia from American Kennel Club shows in a beautiful Greek revival mansion situated in the 500+ acre Queeny Park just southwest of St. Louis. And the best part is, well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome inside this first-class museum! The grounds are beautiful and paved paths invite joggers, dog-walkers and horses to enjoy the area. (1)

    Where) 1721 South Mason Road     Open Tues - Sat from 10am - 4pm     Adults: $5    1-314-821-3647

Why) This is one of those can't skip Buckys that both Pam and I would have enjoyed visiting.  However, we drove through on a Monday morning and neither one of us thought we would like it enough to justify waiting a day for it to open.  Hopefully you will enjoy the related pictures that I found.

This 1863 portrait by William Luker, Sr. titled "Mastiff on Steps" is one of the ones that we could have seen. (2) To my limited knowledge,
the other three pictures below are not at the museum but they are beautiful paintings that certainly could be.
Make sure to click on the (links) for more examples of paintings by that artist.
