What) On April 24, 1995, a 55-ton boulder suddenly rolled 400 feet down a cliff along the Mississippi river and plowed into the 2-bedroom house of Maxine and Dwight Anderson. When the dust settled, the Anderson's found a huge, coin-shaped rock where their master bedroom used to be. The rock is still there today. John Burt, a local real estate investor, bought the house -- with the rock still firmly wedged inside it -- and turned it into a tourist attraction called The Rock In The House. (1)

Where) 440 North Shore Drive   On Highway 35 at the north edge of town.   Open Mon-Sat 10-6 and Sun 1-5    $1   1-608-687-3553

Why) I suppose I wanted to stand at the base of the hill and imagine the massive boulder suddenly rolling down it.

Unfortunately, my imagination is non existant but fortunately...

... the rock was still there for me to pose beside.

I probably would have taken this picture myself in better weather. (2)
